Fred Dinger – CEO and President
Fred Dinger has over 25 years of experience with both large and small medical device companies. Prior to Aerin Medical, Fred served as President and Chief Executive Officer at ENTrigue Surgical, C2M Medical and OsteoBiologics, and has held leadership positions with A-Med Systems, where he served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, as well as Linvatec Corporation and Xomed Surgical Products, where Fred served as Vice President of Research and Development. Fred earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and a Master of Science in Engineering Management from University of South Florida.
Scott Wolf, MD – Founder and Chief Medical Officer
Dr. Scott Wolf is a prolific medical device entrepreneur across a broad range of therapeutic areas. Scott founded Aerin Medical to create non-surgical therapies to meet the enormous need of patients with the most common nasal airway problems, including nasal obstruction. Prior to founding Aerin Medical, Scott founded Zeltiq Aesthetics, the maker of CoolSculpting, the leading non-invasive method of fat reduction for bodysculpting. Scott’s other startups include Endogastric Solutions and Cardiac Dimensions. Scott was previously a partner at Prospect Venture Partners and a vice-president at Frazier Healthcare Ventures, both leading life science venture capital firms. Scott received his M.D. from George Washington University and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Bill McClellan, CPA – CFO
Bill McClellan is an experienced finance executive and CFO. Prior to Aerin Medical, Bill served as CFO and Executive VP of Finance for On-X Life Technologies, Inc., a heart surgery medical device company which was sold to CryoLife in 2016. Mr. McClellan currently serves on the boards Apollo Endosurgery Inc. and Reata Pharmacuticals Inc, both publicy-traded companies, and chairs their Audit Committees. Early in his career, he spent nine years specializing in healthcare with the public accounting firm PriceWaterhouseCoopers (formerly Price Waterhouse) followed by executive management positions with PhyCor, Inc., Physicians Trust, Inc., US Orthopedics, Inc., and Acxiom Corporation. Bill is a graduate of Abilene Christian University and a Certified Public Accountant.
Shane Johnson – VP, Sales
Shane is an experienced sales executive that has 23 years in the medical device space with over 17 of those in leadership positions. Prior to Aerin Medical, he built the commercial team and strategy as the Vice President of Sales at Vertiflex where he was responsible for the US launch of their minimally invasive treatment for spinal stenosis. He spent nearly half of his career at Kyphon where he played an instrumental leadership role growing the business from $10 million to $470 million, culminating in a $3.9 billion acquisition by Medtronic. Shane finished his time as the Vice President of Sales at Medtronic, managing a team of 150 within the interventional spine division. He has held various executive leadership positions at both start up and large cap medical device companies throughout his career and is highly regarded as an award-winning sales leader and builder of industry leading cultures. Shane received his business management degree from Henderson University.
Tom Patzelt – VP, Marketing
Tom Patzelt has over 27 years of experience driving adoption of disruptive technologies in medtech start-ups and multi-nationals. He has led the development and implementation of physician and consumer strategies in robotic surgery, implantables and office-based procedure products. Prior to joining Aerin Medical, Tom was Vice President of Marketing for two start-ups with an ENT focus, Medrobotics Corporation and Entellus Medical. Entellus completed a highly successful IPO with a $400 million valuation and subsequent acquisition by Stryker for $660 million. Tom received his BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame, his MS in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University, and his MBA from the University of Chicago.
Andrew Frazier – VP, Engineering
Andrew is a seasoned engineering executive with a proven history of building & leading early-stage teams from conceptual design to production. Prior to Aerin Medical, Andrew held management positions at ArthroCare Sports Medicine, Aspire Medical, & Appriva Medical. Andrew is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Biomedical Engineering department and has designed surgical instruments and implants for Guidant, Intuitive Surgical, and Cardica prior to entering management.
Scott Miller – VP, Finance & Operations
Scott Miller is an experienced finance, business development and operations executive. Prior to Aerin Medical, Scott served in multiple leadership positions with Smith & Nephew, ArthroCare and St. Jude Medical where he gained broad industry exposure across the Ear, Nose & Throat, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management and Neuromodulation healthcare subspecialties. Previously, Scott served as a mutual fund manager for both life science and diversified mutual funds with Morgan Stanley, where was directly responsible for the management of an $8 Billion portfolio and put together an investment track record that produced numerous awards from both Lipper and Morningstar. Scott graduated as an Academic All-ACC selection at Duke University and earned a Masters of Business Administration with High Honors from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Scott also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Prasad Nalluri – VP, Strategic Development
Prasad Nalluri has over twenty years of experience in commercializing ground-breaking medical technologies and developing markets globally. He drove the successful launch and rapid adoption of innovative technology platforms in the ENT space including Surgical Navigation Systems, minimally invasive surgical and non-invasive treatment platforms. Early in his career as program director, Prasad shaped and executed strategies that drove a nascent ENT surgical navigation business at Medtronic to the standard of care within five years. He subsequently held executive management positions at BioHorizons Inc., ENTrigue Surgical, Inc., and Arthrocare Corp where he launched several innovative product platforms and deployed strategies to accelerate growth in global markets.
Scott Smith, MD, JD – General Counsel and Compliance Officer
Scott is an M.D. and registered patent attorney who has spent nearly two decades advising medical device companies as in-house and outside counsel. He worked in-house at Acclarent (acquired by JNJ for $800M), PulmonX, Align Technology and Baxano, and he has acted as partner at several top-tier intellectual property law firms.
Although Scott has enjoyed representing companies in nearly every medical specialty, he is exceedingly happy to be back in the ENT field with Aerin. Scott earned his J.D. from the Ohio State University, his M.D. from the University of Arizona, and a B.A from Northwestern University.
