Matt Brokaw

Matt Brokaw

CEO & President

Matt Brokaw has extensive leadership experience in building commercial businesses in ENT. His most recent roles include marketing and sales leadership at Tusker Medical (acquired by Smith+Nephew), Spirox (acquired by Entellus), Entellus Medical (acquired by Stryker), and Stryker, following experience at Acclarent (acquired by J&J), J&J, and Sonitus Medical. Prior to ENT, Matt was with Guidant Corporation in the Cardiac Surgery division and spent 5 years advising healthcare providers on strategy and technology investments at the Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC. Matt received an MBA from Stanford University and a B.A. from Williams College.

Scott Wolf, M.D.

Scott Wolf, M.D.

Founder & Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Scott Wolf is a prolific medical device entrepreneur across a broad range of therapeutic areas. Scott founded Aerin Medical to create non-surgical therapies to meet the enormous need of patients with the most common nasal airway problems, including nasal obstruction. Prior to founding Aerin Medical, Scott founded Zeltiq Aesthetics, the maker of CoolSculpting, the leading non-invasive method of fat reduction for body sculpting. Scott’s other startups include Endogastric Solutions and Cardiac Dimensions. Scott was previously a partner at Prospect Venture Partners and a Vice President at Frazier Healthcare Ventures, both leading life science venture capital firms. Scott received his M.D. from George Washington University and his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania.

Fred Dinger

Chief Operating Officer

Fred Dinger has over 25 years of experience with both large and small medical device companies. Prior to Aerin Medical, Fred served as president and Chief Executive Officer at ENTrigue Surgical, C2M Medical, and OsteoBiologics, and has held leadership positions with A-Med Systems, where he served as Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, as well as Linvatec Corporation and Xomed Surgical Products, where Fred served as Vice President of Research and Development. Fred earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University and an M.S. in Engineering Management from the University of South Florida.

Derrick Sung, Ph.D.

Chief Financial Officer

Derrick Sung brings over 25 years of finance, capital markets, and strategy experience across diverse roles within the medical device industry. Prior to joining Aerin, Derrick was Chief Financial Officer at Pulmonx Corporation where he scaled the finance organization and led the company through a successful IPO. Before that, he led Strategy and Corporate Development at iRhythm Technologies. Previously, Derrick spent 7 years on Wall Street as a senior equity research analyst covering the medical devices sector, directed marketing and business development for Boston Scientific’s Neuromodulation division, led management consulting engagements at the Boston Consulting Group, and designed heart catheters as an R&D engineer for Guidant Corporation. Derrick received his Ph.D. in Bioengineering from the University of California, San Diego, his MBA from San Diego State University, and his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Stanford University.

Matt Salkeld

Chief Commercial Officer

Matt Salkeld has 25 years medical device industry experience in sales and sales management, strategy and product marketing, market access, and finance. Prior to Aerin Medical, Matt spent 7 years at PROCEPT BioRobotics with responsibilities including sales, marketing and market access and was a member of the executive team for the Company’s initial public offering in September 2021. Matt also spent 7 years at Acclarent,, acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2010, where he was a member of the executive team with responsibilities including US sales, global marketing, and professional education. Previous roles include extensive experience in the cardiovascular area with executive sales and marketing positions at Cierra, Inc., and at Vascular Architects, as well as a variety of roles at Guidant Corporation. Before that, he was a Manager at Ernst & Young, LLP. Matt received his MBA from Santa Clara University and holds a B.S. in Commerce.

Andre Cheng, M.D., Ph.D.

Chief Strategy Officer

Andre Cheng, MD, PhD, is a trained ENT physician with broad strategic and financial experience beyond his clinical training. Prior to joining Aerin Medical, Andre ran provider-side strategy work as Executive Director at the Advisory Board Company in Washington DC, served as the first Medical Director and a member of the executive team at Acclarent through its acquisition by J&J, led Medical Affairs and Reimbursement within J&J, and most recently finished a 12-year hedge-fund as a Partner at Granite Point Capital. As CSO, he will guide Aerin’s long-term business plan, contribute to strategic choices made through research and insights, and identify unmet needs and evaluate potential opportunities. Andre received his M.D. and Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University and his A.B. at Harvard University.

Irina Ridley

Chief Legal Officer

Irina Ridley is an accomplished healthcare executive with extensive experience in Legal, Risk, (Compliance, Privacy, Cybersecurity), Corporate Affairs (Investor Relations, Communications, Public Relations) and Business Development. Prior to joining Aerin, Irina was the Chief Legal Officer and Head of Investor Relations at NeuroPace, Inc., which she led through its initial public offering. Prior to NeuroPace, Irina was Associate General Counsel at Counsyl, Inc. prior to its acquisition by Myriad Genetics and stayed on to oversee the integration efforts post-merger. Irina’s diverse experience spans across life sciences, including Medical Devices, Diagnostics, BioPharma, and Digital Health, as well as leading life sciences consulting engagements at Deloitte US and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. Irina received her B.S. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, where she also received her MBA, and her J.D. from Albany Law School.

Desiree Hollemon

Desiree Hollemon

VP of Clinical Affairs

Desiree Hollemon is a seasoned Clinical Affairs leader with over 20 years of experience developing novel medical devices, diagnostics and therapeutics. Prior to joining Aerin Medical, Desiree was an independent clinical development strategist and advisor for medical technology companies with a focus on preparing the evidence development, reimbursement and regulatory strategies necessary to bring novel products to market. Prior to that, she built highly successful clinical development and operation teams as the Head of Clinical Affairs at Karius Diagnostics and as Senior Director of Clinical Development at Roche. Desiree has extensive experience building and expanding clinical development and global clinical operations programs for growth stage companies with a track record that includes successful product launches and global clinical adoption of new medical technologies. Desiree holds a Master of Nursing, a Master of Public Health and has over a decade of experience as a critical care nurse.

Andrew Frazier

VP of Engineering & Manufacturing Operations

Andrew Frazier is a seasoned engineering executive with a proven history of building and leading early-stage teams from conceptual design to production. Prior to Aerin Medical, Andrew held management positions at ArthroCare Sports Medicine, Aspire Medical, and Appriva Medical. Andrew is a graduate of Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute’s Biomedical Engineering department and has designed surgical instruments and implants for Guidant, Intuitive Surgical, and Cardica prior to entering management.

Scott Miller

Scott Miller

VP of Finance & Operations

Scott Miller is an experienced finance, business development, and operations executive. Prior to Aerin Medical, Scott served in multiple leadership positions with Smith & Nephew, ArthroCare, and St. Jude Medical, where he gained broad industry exposure across the Ear, Nose & Throat, Orthopedics, Sports Medicine, Cardiology, Cardiac Rhythm Management, and Neuromodulation healthcare subspecialties. Previously, Scott served as a mutual fund manager for both life science and diversified mutual funds with Morgan Stanley, where he was directly responsible for managing an $8 billion portfolio and put together an investment track record that produced numerous awards from both Lipper and Morningstar. Scott graduated as an Academic All-ACC selection at Duke University and earned an MBA with High Honors from the University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business. Scott also holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Julie Baxter

VP of Medical Policy & Reimbursement

Julie Baxter brings a diverse skill set and experience in Health Economics Market Access, along with more than 14 years in the healthcare industry. Prior to joining Aerin Medical to lead the health economics team, Julie was with Boston Scientific’s Urology Franchise for nearly 5 years, where she successfully led several initiatives focused on the commercial coverage strategy and managed a highly performing field reimbursement team. Julie provided direct oversight of the Benefits Verification and Preauthorization Center paving the way to numerous favorable coverage policies with payors, allowing more patients access to life changing therapies. Before that she was with MiMedx as a Regional Reimbursement Director and prior to that spent 7 years at AstraZeneca serving in many different capacities. Julie is also a former naval officer and a graduate of the United States Naval Academy where she received a B.S. in Political Science.

Shannon Scott

VP of Quality & Regulatory Affairs

Shannon is an experienced regulatory affairs/quality assurance professional with two decades of industry experience. She has worked in various capacities at both start-up and global medical device companies (KCI, Smith & Nephew, and 3M), specializing in wound therapy, orthopedics, ENT, as well as diagnostics. Prior to her work in regulatory affairs, Shannon held roles in manufacturing management, education as a high school science teacher, and as a chemist. Her expertise includes developing strategic plans for obtaining product clearances/approvals, leading US FDA and Notified Body audits, and establishing quality systems for medical device start-ups. She holds a B.S. in Biochemistry from Texas A&M University and an M.S. in Regulatory Affairs for Drugs, Biologics & Medical Devices from Northeastern University.

Matt McCarthy

VP, Global Strategic and Commercial Marketing

Matt McCarthy is an experienced Medical Device commercial leader with expertise building and leading teams in high growth environments. Prior to joining Aerin, Matt was VP of Marketing with Silk Road Medical. He has also held leadership and management positions with Nevro, TriVascular (acquired by Endologix) and Medtronic. Matt received his MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia where he was a Shermet Scholar and holds Bachelor of Commerce degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Canada.

Kaylynn Callister

VP of People

Kaylynn Callister has been a Human Resources leader for nearly 20 years in the medical device and pharmaceutical industries. Kaylynn spent 11 years at Johnson & Johnson where she most recently held the role of Head of Human Resources for J&J’s Robotic Division. Prior to J&J, Kaylynn was at Acclarent (acquired by J&J), Xtent, and Cytyc Surgical Products. Kaylynn brings a wide range of expertise, from creating organizational strategy at startups through multi-billion dollar acquisitions, divestitures, and major large-scale organizational changes. Kaylynn holds a MA in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University, a MS in Human Resource Management from Golden Gate University, and BS in Behavioral Science from Utah Valley University.

John Sahid

VP of Commercial Operations

John Sahid brings over 20 years of sales, sales management, finance, marketing, and commercial operations leadership experience within healthcare. Most recently, John served as Vice President of Global Sales Operations at Intersect ENT (acquired by Medtronic) where he built a high-performing sales operations function supporting significant commercial team expansion and revenue growth, including multiple commercial launches in the ENT space. Prior to Intersect ENT, John spent 17 years at Johnson & Johnson in a variety of commercial roles, including sales operations leadership, across both pharmaceutical and medical devices. John received his MBA from University of Southern California and holds his B.S. in Finance/Business Economics from the University of Arizona.
